Fidelity Bank Ghana recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its financial inclusion initiatives by honoring outstanding agents within its extensive agency banking network. The event, held at Wesley Towers in Accra, recognized agents’ pivotal roles in expanding banking services to unbanked and underbanked populations across the country.
Since launching its agency banking model in 2013 with just 24 agents, Fidelity Bank has expanded its network to over 9,000 agents nationwide. This growth has significantly contributed to reducing Ghana’s unbanked adult population from 70% in 2011 to 38% today.
In October 2024 alone, the bank’s agents facilitated over GH¢2 billion in deposits, with transactions totaling more than GH¢20 billion since the beginning of the year. This underscores the effectiveness of the agency banking model in enhancing financial accessibility.
During the awards ceremony, Brillin Top Enterprise from Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region was named Overall Best Agent for 2024, successfully defending their title from the previous year. S-Duah Enterprise from Kumasi secured second place, while Khofhay Ventures from Berekum earned third place.
Fidelity Bank’s commitment to financial inclusion is further demonstrated through innovative products like the Smart Account, which allows for quick account openings with minimal requirements, and partnerships with organizations such as Ghana Post and Melcom to establish agent points across the country.
As Fidelity Bank continues to expand its services, it remains focused on empowering agents and enhancing customer experiences, ensuring that banking services are accessible to all Ghanaians, regardless of their location or economic status.
