Sixteen students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology are contesting to be elected as Students’ Representative Council President for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The aspirants comprise 15 males and one female, making the contest one of the most crowded SRC presidential races in recent times. The candidates, whose campaign names have been displayed on a promotional flyer, are expected to intensify their engagements with students in the coming weeks as they seek support across the university community.

The SRC presidential election is a major student leadership exercise at KNUST, as the elected president will be expected to represent students’ interests, lead the SRC administration, and work with university management on issues affecting students’ welfare, academics, accommodation, security, and campus life.
With the large number of aspirants, the race is expected to generate strong competition, diverse campaign messages, and increased student participation. The presence of one female aspirant also adds a gender representation dimension to the contest, although male candidates continue to dominate the field.
Students are expected to assess the aspirants based on their leadership qualities, campaign policies, credibility, and ability to address pressing student concerns ahead of the elections.
