The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured all qualified candidates who sat for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) that they will be placed into Senior High and Technical Schools nationwide. GES said adequate preparations have been made ahead of the reopening date for fresh students on September 18, 2026.
The Service dismissed reports claiming about 72,000 students could miss out on placement, describing the reports as speculative and inaccurate. According to GES, available infrastructure and facilities across the country are enough to accommodate all eligible students.
GES also stressed that efforts to phase out the double-track system will not affect access to secondary education but rather improve the quality of teaching and learning. The Service reaffirmed its commitment to equitable and inclusive education for every Ghanaian child.
