The PRESEC Old Boys Association has launched a GH¢600,000 fundraising campaign to support the school’s contestants ahead of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz campaign. The government has announced plans to begin a major expansion and renovation of Senior High School infrastructure across the country to improve accommodation for students and increase enrolment capacity. Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu said the nationwide renovation exercise will begin in July and cover 150 secondary schools. According to the minister, the initiative is aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions while ensuring that rising student numbers do not affect the quality of education. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured all qualified candidates who sat for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) that they will be placed into Senior High and Technical Schools nationwide. GES said adequate preparations have been made ahead of the reopening date for fresh students on September 18, 2026. President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana’s double-track system in Senior High Schools (SHSs) will end by 2027 through a major infrastructure expansion programme. According to him, government has secured a $300 million World Bank facility under the Transformative Secondary Education for Access, Results and Relevance for Jobs (STARR-J) project to upgrade 50 SHSs nationwide. The Ghana-China Business Chamber of Commerce has donated 50 modern student desks to Achimota Senior High School to help address the school’s furniture deficit.
