The University of Media, Arts and Communication has temporarily moved lectures online from Wednesday, July 1, to Sunday, July 5, 2026, following heavy rains and flooding in Accra. In a memorandum issued by the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, management said the decision was informed by recent flooding on Monday, June 29, and a weather advisory from the Ghana Meteorological Agency forecasting further heavy rains and thunderstorms. The university said the move is intended to protect students, lecturers, and staff while ensuring academic work continues. The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) is moving forward with plans to establish a new campus in Kenyasi in the Ahafo Region after receiving approval from the Ministry of Education.The university delegation led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Richard Kwasi Amankwah recently met with traditional authorities and government officials to discuss the project and assess preparations for its implementation. The Ghana Education Service has banned flamboyant post-examination celebrations on school premises, citing concerns over growing displays of wealth during celebrations of students completing Senior High School. Five students of Central University have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) over their alleged involvement in the production and sale of cannabis-infused products during SRC Week activities on campus. According to preliminary investigations, the students—reported to be in Levels 100, 300, and 400—were allegedly producing and selling cannabis-infused ice cream, sobolo, toffees, pepper, and eggs, in addition to dealing in raw cannabis.
