The government has announced plans to begin a major expansion and renovation of Senior High School infrastructure across the country to improve accommodation for students and increase enrolment capacity. Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu said the nationwide renovation exercise will begin in July and cover 150 secondary schools.
According to the minister, the initiative is aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions while ensuring that rising student numbers do not affect the quality of education. He also disclosed that 13 TVET institutions will be renovated, while 10 new TVET schools will be constructed to expand access to technical and vocational education.
Mr. Iddrisu further revealed that about 50 senior high schools will benefit from a $300 million World Bank-funded upgrading project as government intensifies efforts to improve educational infrastructure nationwide.
