The government has spent GH¢888.8 million on the No Academic Fees Policy over the past two years, benefiting 312,448 first-year students in public tertiary institutions across the country, according to Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu.
Presenting updates on the policy, the minister disclosed that more than 150,000 first-year students are expected to benefit from the programme this year alone, as part of efforts to ease the financial burden on students entering tertiary institutions.
Mr. Iddrisu noted that the initiative, popularly known as the “No Fee Stress” policy, is aimed at improving access to higher education and ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent qualified students from pursuing tertiary studies.
The policy remains one of the government’s flagship education interventions, complementing broader efforts to expand access to quality education and support human capital development nationwide.
