The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has revealed that digital learning initiatives introduced by the Ministry of Education are currently benefiting more than 120,000 Senior High School (SHS) students across Ghana. The interventions are aimed at improving access to quality educational resources, particularly for learners in underserved and remote communities.

According to the Minister, the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS) has deployed the iBox Learning Management System in 240 SHSs nationwide. The offline platform allows students to access curriculum-based learning materials and educational content through Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections, even without internet access.

Mr. Iddrisu explained that the initiative forms part of government efforts to bridge the digital divide between rural and urban schools. He added that with support from UNESCO, the iBox project has been expanded through the Technology-Enabled Open School System (TEOS) to reach basic schools and ensure continuity of learning during emergencies and disruptions.

The Minister also highlighted the iCampusGH platform, an online learning system that provides similar educational resources for students and teachers with internet connectivity. He noted that the government is working with development partners to expand digital learning interventions and promote equitable access to education across the country.
